Millions of people around our world spend their lives amidst darkness and captivity: dark rooms, dark hearts, no hope; physical bondage, social oppression, no options.
In Thailand, limited means, lack of education, and the normalization of exploitation has led to the devaluing of human dignity through the sex trade. Thailand is one of the largest destinations for sex tourism in the world, and thousands upon thousands of women, children, and men are living without freedom. They are subjected to the physical and material greed of others.
On average, each victim of sexual exploitation earns their trafficker almost $22,000 USD each year. Since traffickers control many people, and someone can be sold many times in one day, “business” is lucrative, but the cost for victims is high: in lost dreams, lost innocence, lost choice, and lost lives. Oppression in place of freedom is not right.
